Ballater has a vast range of Groups, Societies, Businesses, Sports Groups, Events, at the last count there were over 45 committees of one shape or another and they have been all formed to fulfil a need in the community. Presently, Aberdeenshire Council do offer a range of support and also signposting information for residents of where and how to seek further advice on a range of services and circumstances .

Some links are to government /external sources of information and help and others relate to council services  such as council tax reduction Apply for a Council Tax Reduction – Aberdeenshire Council   and similar as well as grants administered by the council such as crisis grants   Crisis Grants – Aberdeenshire Council  this one though is more acute or urgent situations .

Others such as discretionary housing payments can help where there are shortfalls or gaps in  rent for residents who are in receipt of housing benefit Discretionary Housing Payments – Aberdeenshire Council

Other local sources for general information, benefits checks, financial advice and sources of support can be found from South West Aberdeenshire Citizens Advice Bureau . Bureau advisers are available via phone or email, the bureau also has specific energy advisers. Additionally face to face appointments were ( best check its still current) offered weekly on Thursday mornings at Aboyne for anyone who might wish to speak with an adviser.
